Closing up shop

Due to the amount of stress I'm under in my personal life, and the expanded role of editor that I've taken at CSR, I regretfully announce that I will no longer contribute posts to this blog. Something has to be cut for me to keep my sanity, and CSR has a broader readership than I do here, so I've decided to shut down this blog.

Thank you for your support and readership. If you would like to continue reading about the Panthers, you can do so at Cat Scratch Reader.

I really don't know what to say anymore

Heartbreaking loss to the Browns. Old man Kasay should have made that kick, but at the same time we shouldn't have allowed Peyton Hillis to run like Jim Brown in the first half and score three TD's on our defense.

What can you say about a team that's 1-10 and is destined to pick in the top 5 of next year's draft? Oh well, I guess I should start scouting the top-notch college guys, because from the looks of it, we're going to get one of them.

Brian St. Pierre to start against Baltimore

In what should be considered as the "WTF" moment of the season, Brian St. Pierre will start for Carolina on Sunday when the Ravens come to Charlotte to get an easy win as they prepare for their playoff run.

Considering the fact that St. Pierre was just signed to the practice squad last week, it makes no sense that he's going to get the start over Tony Pike, who at least has some knowledge of the playbook since he's been with the team all season.

I don't know what to say anymore. If this isn't John Fox holding up a big sign that says "I don't give a shit", then I don't know what is.

Jimmy Clausen has a concussion

This season just keeps getting better and better.

Clausen suffered a concussion at the end of yesterday's 31-16 loss against the Buccaneers when he was blatantly cheap-shotted in a helmet-to-helmet hit by Aqib "The Thug" Talib on a QB sneak play at the goal line in the 4th quarter.

John Fox has formally complained to the league and sent a tape of the play for review, but it's unlikely that they will do anything, since Clausen isn't Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, and he wasn't a defenseless receiver attempting to catch a pass.

No word yet on whether or not Clausen will start against the Ravens*, but if he can't play it will be up to Tony Pike to lead us onto the field to be destroyed by face Ray Lewis and company.

* - To be honest, it really doesn't matter if he plays or not, because we're going to get our asses handed to us by Baltimore anyway.

Matt Moore out for season

Update 2:The Panthers have signed QB Brian St. Pierre to the practice squad. Armanti Edwards will be the 3rd QB on game day.

Update 1: The Panthers have invited former Rams QB Keith Null to workout for the team, a move that almost guarantees Armanti Edwards will remain at WR for the rest of the season.

* * * *

Matt Moore is out for the season with a torn labrum in his right shoulder. He suffered the injury after taking a sack in the 3rd quarter against the Saints this past Sunday.

Jimmy Clausen, Tony Pike, and Armanti Edwards will now share QB duties, although at this point it doesn't really matter anymore.

LB's Dan Connor and Thomas Davis were also placed on IR. Davis has been out since training camp when he re-injured his torn ACL, and Connor injured his hip against the Saints on Sunday.
